What is Academy 59?
Academy 59 is Landon Johnson's linebacker-only training program for 8th-12th grade athletes in the Cincinnati area. It runs through June and July. Each session is designed to give your son improvements in footwork, tackling, block destruction, reading plays, and coverage. The Intro Session is the perfect starting point. No long-term commitment, and if it's the right fit for your son, we have discounted packages available to keep going.
Can my son come to more than one session?
Yes. This offer is for one intro session and you just pick the date that works for your schedule. June 5, 6, and 7 are all available dates for the intro session. If your son wants to keep training after that we have options available to continue through June and July.
Is this good for a first-year linebacker?
Yes. Whether he's been playing linebacker for years or just moved to the position, this session builds the fundamentals from the ground up. No prior experience needed.
What if we end up missing the session?
No need to worry. The unused session can be applied to future training. Just reach out to us and we'll take care of it.
Who is Landon Johnson?
Landon has spent over a decade coaching high school athletes, but he learned the position by playing it. He was a 3rd round NFL Draft pick by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2004, led the team in tackles as a rookie, started at all three linebacker positions, and was named team captain. After 7 NFL seasons, he spent 12 years teaching and coaching at the high school level. Now he's combining everything he learned from two decades playing the game at the highest level with the coaching experience he's built since, to teach Cincinnati linebackers the way he wishes he'd been coached at their age.
How does Landon approach safety?
Every drill starts with form. Tackling, block destruction, contact reps. Landon teaches the same techniques he was coached on at the NFL level, where players learn how to hit and be hit the right way. Technique comes first. Reps come after. Your son will be coached the way the pros are coached.
